If you and your partner are struggling in your relationship — if you are arguing, feeling stuck, and disconnected from each other — I can help. All couples get caught in patterns that can sometimes feel like they are stuck on repeat.

Many times, one person wants to talk things out, or is trying to get their partner to listen and understand them; while the other just doesn’t seem to want to go there. When this happens, you and your partner likely feel frustrated — one of you might blame, criticize, or accuse the other; while the other might get defensive, or walk away. Regardless of your pattern, there is a way out

In my work with couples, I use a world-renowned approach called Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, or EFT. EFT is a research-backed approach to couples therapy, with proven results in helping couples reconnect, and discover the loving, intimate relationship they’ve always wanted.

Throughout our work together, you will learn how to step out of the patterns that keep you stuck…

In the first session, the three of us will meet together to get to know one another and find out more about what brings you to therapy. Next, I will meet with you each individually to understand more about what is going on for you, and to learn about your relationship history. Then, the three of us will meet together again and I will offer you both my feedback on whether couples therapy is your best option, and if it is, we will go over a plan for our ongoing work together.

EFT provides a map, which helps us identify where you are getting stuck and how to move forward. Together, we will help you shift out of conflict and create a new way of connecting with each other so that you can face obstacles and challenges in your life, as a team. You will experience improved intimacy, emotional closeness, and a new way of relating that feels safe, trusting, and deeply connected. You can learn more about working with me, by reading my consent form.

I offer online sessions so you and your partner can receive the support you need from the comfort of your home. Working online is just as effective as in person — many studies have confirmed that there’s no difference in the outcome of therapy. You can read about some of them here.

From September to May, I also see couples in person in Oak Bay, New Brunswick. For June, July & August 2017, I will be accepting in-person clients in Musquodoboit Harbour, 30 minutes from Halifax, Nova Scotia.
